Book nowApplication of hyaluronic acid on the body - body contouring
Hyaluronic acid is a versatile active ingredient that is used not only in facial aesthetics but also in body contouring. Thanks to its ability to bind water and create volume, hyaluronic acid is ideal for sculpting and improving certain areas of the body.
- Correction of depressions in the hips (hip dips): The aim is to correct the natural indentations on the sides of the hips, also known as hip dips, and create a harmonious side profile.By injecting hyaluronic acid into the affected areas, the indentations can be evened out and the contours of the hips softened.
- Enlargement and modeling of calves: For people who desire fuller or more sculpted calves, hyaluronic acid can provide a non-surgical solution. The targeted injection of hyaluronic acid can help to enlarge and improve the shape of the calves for a more aesthetic appearance.
- Correction and fine-tuning after liposuction: After liposuction, there may be irregularities or dimpling that can be corrected with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid can be injected precisely to smooth out small irregularities and achieve a more even skin texture.
- Hand rejuvenation: As we age, hands lose volume and veins and tendons can become more prominent. Hyaluronic acid can help to restore a more youthful appearance to the hands. Injecting hyaluronic acid into the back of the hands can replenish lost volume and smooth the skin.
- Improving the quality of scars: Hyaluronic acid can help improve the texture of skin with certain types of scars, especially sunken scars.By injecting directly into or under the scar, hyaluronic acid can help lift and smooth the scar, making it less visible.
- Rounder and larger buttocks: For individuals who desire fuller, rounder buttocks, hyaluronic acid offers a non-surgical alternative to implants or fat grafting. Through strategically placed injections of hyaluronic acid, the buttocks can be made fuller and rounder.
What are the general benefits of hyaluronic acid?
The benefits of using hyaluronic acid are far-reaching. Firstly, hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs and is produced naturally in the body. Its use therefore leads to very natural and aesthetically pleasing results. In addition, allergic reactions are relatively rare as the body is already familiar with the substance, which is why hyaluronic acid has a high safety profile. In contrast to surgical procedures, injections are a minimally invasive procedure. This means lower risks, less pain and a shorter recovery time. Another advantage is the immediate result following the injection and therefore the direct customizability of the treatment to specific wishes and needs. The quantity and type of substance can be individually adjusted. If the result is not as desired or an unsatisfactory treatment has been carried out externally, hyaluronic acid can also be reversibly dissolved with hylase or certain areas can be corrected. Otherwise, the hyaluronic acid degrades on its own over the course of 6-18 months. It should also be noted that the procedure is short, outpatient and can be combined with other treatments such as injections with botulinum toxin A or poly-L-lactic acid.
The injection procedure with hyaluronic acid
Before the injection, the skin is carefully cleaned and disinfected to minimize the risk of infection. If necessary or desired, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to reduce discomfort during the injection. However, some local anesthetic is usually added to the injection of hyaluronic acid to make the treatment more comfortable. During the injection, a fine needle is used to inject the hyaluronic acid into specific areas of the skin. The injection technique and depth vary depending on the treatment objective. During the treatment, we constantly check the appearance and adjust the injections accordingly to achieve a symmetrical and natural result. After hyaluronic acid injections, local cooling can be applied to reduce swelling. We will also provide you with specific instructions for the care and aftercare of the treated areas. A follow-up appointment is usually scheduled two weeks after the treatment to assess the results and determine whether additional corrections are required.
What are the risks and side effects of body contouring with hyaluronic acid?
When using hyaluronic acid for body contouring treatments, there are a number of risks and side effects that need to be considered. Firstly, as with all procedures where the skin is penetrated, there is a basic risk of infection at the injection sites. Although hyaluronic acid is generally well tolerated, allergic reactions can occur in rare cases. Common but usually temporary side effects include bruising, swelling and redness at the injection sites.
Another risk is that the results may be asymmetrical or irregularities may occur in the treated area, especially if the hyaluronic acid is distributed unevenly. Although rare, there is also a risk of nerve injury, especially when injecting into deeper tissue layers. In rare cases, granulomas or lumps may form at the injection sites, which is a further complication. A very rare but serious complication is vascular problems, which can be caused by damage to blood vessels. However, should this occur, the hyaluronic acid can be dissolved immediately using hylase and the problem resolved.
Patients must also be aware that the results of hyaluronic acid injections are not permanent. The active ingredient is broken down by the body over time, which means that regular top-up treatments may be required to maintain the desired appearance. In addition, there is always a risk that the results may not meet the patient's expectations, or that pain or discomfort may occur at the injection sites.
