Book nowApplication of hyaluronic acid to the face, neck and décolleté
Hyaluronic acid is a popular active ingredient in aesthetic medicine. This naturally occurring substance in the body is known for its ability to bind water, making it an excellent agent for hydration, elasticity and volume building, as the natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases with age, which can lead to loss of volume, fine lines and wrinkles. The minimally invasive procedure of hyaluronic acid injections offers numerous options for treating the face, neck and décolleté to correct age-related changes in the skin and improve the appearance.
Application on the face:
- Marionette lines: These run from the corner of the mouth down to the chin. Filling them can help to reduce a sad or grumpy facial expression.
- Lip plumping: Hyaluronic acid creates fuller and more defined lips. It can both increase the volume and improve the lip contour. We always take care to maintain a natural look.
- Cheeks: Over time, the cheeks lose volume. Hyaluronic acid can be used here to lift the cheeks and revitalize the midface.
- Crow's feet: The fine lines that form in the corners of the eyes can be smoothed with hyaluronic acid. Botulinum toxin A is also frequently used to correct wrinkles in this region.
- Forehead and frown lines: Hyaluronic acid can be used to fill in pronounced forehead and frown lines. Botulinum toxin A is also frequently used to correct wrinkles in this region.
Application on the neck and décolleté:
- Fine lines and wrinkles: The neck and décolleté often show early signs of skin ageing due to increased sun exposure and the activity of the platysma muscle. Hyaluronic acid can be used, for example, to hydrate vertical lines in the décolleté area and thus create volume.
- Skin quality/texture: The improvement of skin quality and texture is achieved by moisturizing the skin from within and thus tightening it.
What are the benefits of hyaluronic acid?
The benefits of using hyaluronic acid are far-reaching. Firstly, hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs and is produced naturally in the body. Its use therefore leads to very natural and aesthetically pleasing results. In addition, allergic reactions are relatively rare as the body is already familiar with the substance, which is why hyaluronic acid has a high safety profile. In contrast to surgical procedures, injections are a minimally invasive procedure. This means lower risks, less pain and a shorter recovery time. Another advantage is the immediate result following the injection and therefore the direct customizability of the treatment to specific wishes and needs. The quantity and type of substance can be individually adjusted. If the result is not as desired or an unsatisfactory treatment has been carried out externally, hyaluronic acid can also be reversibly dissolved with hylase or certain areas can be corrected. Otherwise, the hyaluronic acid degrades on its own over the course of 6-18 months. It should also be noted that the procedure is short, outpatient and can be combined with other treatments such as injections with botulinum toxin A or poly-L-lactic acid.
The injection procedure with hyaluronic acid
Before the injection, the skin is carefully cleaned and disinfected to minimize the risk of infection. If necessary or desired, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to reduce discomfort during the injection. However, some local anesthetic is usually added to the injection of hyaluronic acid to make the treatment more comfortable. During the injection, a fine needle is used to inject the hyaluronic acid into specific areas of the skin. The injection technique and depth vary depending on the treatment objective. During the treatment, we constantly check the appearance and adjust the injections accordingly to achieve a symmetrical and natural result. After hyaluronic acid injections, local cooling can be applied to reduce swelling. We will also provide you with specific instructions for the care and aftercare of the treated areas. A follow-up appointment is usually scheduled two weeks after treatment to evaluate the results and determine if additional corrections are needed.
What are the risks and side effects?
Hyaluronic acid injections are a popular aesthetic procedure known for their safety and effectiveness. However, as with all medical procedures, there are certain side effects and risks that need to be considered. The most common side effects that can occur immediately after treatment include redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites. These are usually mild and temporary and usually subside within a few days. Some patients also report a degree of pain or tenderness in the treated area, which usually subsides quickly. Although rare, there are also more serious risks that should be considered. These include the risk of infection at the injection site. Allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid are uncommon, but cannot be completely ruled out. A serious but very rare risk is vascular occlusion, where the hyaluronic acid is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel and causes a blockage. In extremely rare cases, tissue death, known as necrosis, can occur if the blood supply to certain areas of the skin is interrupted. However, it should be noted that in the event of vascular blockage, immediate dissolution of the hyaluronic acid with hylase is possible and is carried out. Aesthetic risks include potential asymmetry, over- or undercorrection, which can lead to an unnatural appearance, and in rare cases the formation of lumps or granulomas at the injection sites. In addition, the uneven breakdown of hyaluronic acid over time can lead to irregular results.
